Every first Thursday of each month, all of the stores along South Congress go beyond their business hours and staying open later than their regular closing time. Some of the stores here even give special sales and free drinks.

February 2-28 – Black History Month

Different events will be happening all around the city to commemorate the Black History Month. These events will be for the celebration of important people and moments in time in African-American history.

February 3 – Storytime Art-Be My Valentine

Storytimes for the 3-5-year-old preschoolers’ event. Anyone older is also welcome to this event.

February 4 – The 10th Annual Puppy Bowl

Austin Humane Society 124 W Anderson Ln, Austin, TX 78752

The 10th annual Austin Humane Society Puppy Bowl will be a Super Bowl-themed, free family-friendly community event that will be featuring AHS adoptable puppies dressed in uniform, children’s activities, and local vendors and other businesses.

February 4 – 2017 CASAblance Gala

This event will be complete with exciting auctions, a casino after-party, delicious cuisine and the inspiring stories of CASA children and volunteers.

February 4 – Rodeo Austin Gala

This event is one of Austin’s largest black tie affairs that features four-course dinner, cocktails, silent and live auction shopping, and award-winning entertainment by Kacey Musgraves.

February 4 – Hot Rods & Hatters Festival & Car Show

February 5 – Super Bowl 51

NRG Stadium 1 NRG Parkway, Houston, TX 77054

This will be the third time the Super Bowl is held in Houston. This event will be televised nationally as well in the United States.

February 11 – Cupid’s Chase

February 14 – Valentine’s Day

February 15-18 – Austin Energy Regional Science Festival

This event is one of Texas’ largest regional science fairs with almost 3,000 students from 3rd through 12th grade.

February 15-19 OUTsider Festival

Various Locations

This is one of Austin’s most progressive festivals. This event brings out together Austin’s LGBTQI community for five days of creation and inspiration.

5,000 participants will experience running through some of Austin’s most scenic and historic neighborhoods including Hyde Park neighborhood, Lady Bird Johnson Lake, the University of Texas campus, the State Capitol and Congress Avenue.
